COMPREHENSIVE FINANCIAL PLANNINGHouston Asset Management, Inc. specializes in personal and corporate financial planning. HAM accepts the responsibility of becoming a working partner with its Client, reviewing the Client’s financial affairs, creating a written financial plan and aiding the Client in the implementation of its recommendations.
In carrying out our six-step financial planning process, we:
COLLECT:
All relevant personal and financial data. This includes detailed fact-finding with respect to the Client’s present situation including assets, liabilities, income, expenses, potential income and estate taxes, plans for distribution of assets, existing trust agreements, Wills, investments, insurance, personal and family obligations, fringe benefit programs, etc.
ANALYZE:
The Client’s present position in light of the Client’s needs, desires, and objectives.
CREATE:
A written Personal Financial Analysis – a financial plan – which includes a profile of the Client, statement of net worth, distribution and balance of assets, description of current investments and insurance programs, recommendations for meeting short and long term living goals, projected cash flow analysis, projected tax flow analysis, investment recommendations*, description of existing estate conditions, summary of existing estate liquidity needs, etc. with appropriate exhibits.
AGREE UPON:
A proposed priority list of steps for application of the recommendations, with the Client, after discussion of the written Personal Financial Analysis and the various recommendations.
CONSULT:
With the client regarding application of the recommendations agreed upon.
ENCOURAGE:
The Client, after an initial consultation period, to continue to retain HAM to furnish ongoing consultation regarding the Client’s financial planning.
Financial Planning is not completed in a vacuum and therefore requires periodic review. Changes will occur in tax laws, in the economic environment, the investment climate, and in the personal circumstances of the Client, all requiring modifications to the plan.
FINANCIAL PLANNING PHILOSOPHY
Time demands placed upon successful individuals by their careers, companies, or professions may result in loss of opportunity to develop financial planning skills. Houston Asset Management, Inc. has learned that astute corporate executives and professionals require the following, in order to be able to manage their financial affairs effectively:
ACTIVE INVOLVEMENT
The most carefully thought out financial plans may be ignored unless the Client becomes actively involved with the financial planner in the application and/or recommendations provided to the Client.
COMPLETE REVIEW
HAM believes that proper financial planning dictates a complete review of a Client’s assts, benefit programs, insurance plans, investments*, potential income, potential estate taxes, wills, trust agreement, etc.
HAM believes that such a review should be based on the Client’s unique objectives and wishes.
COORDINATION
Most successful individuals have accountants, attorneys, stockbrokers, life insurance consultants, and other advisors. HAM believes that the efforts of these professionals should be effectively coordinated into a suitable, comprehensive plan.
ONGOING PLANNING
HAM recognizes that revisions in tax laws, changes in the economic environment such as higher inflation, fluctuations in interest rates, as well as shifts in investment opportunities* – combined with changes in the Client’s personal situation – dictate that thoughtful, flexible financial and tax planning be an ongoing process.
